Tannehill Moves Ahead Of RGIII In NFL Network’s 2012 Re-Draft

Ryan JAXThe vaunted 2012 quarterback class will always be one of those draft classes that will be re-evaluated time and time again like previous great QB classes before it.

The group of Ryan Tannehill, Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, and Robert Griffin III will always be measured against one another during their NFL careers, and after two years in the league, people have already begun to do so.

In a segment on NFL Network, analysts Heath Evans and Jamie Dukes did a re-draft of the 2012 class, and selected the quarterbacks again based on their performance so far in their careers and their future potential.

Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck was selected first, and then coming in at #2 was Miami Dolphins signal caller Ryan Tannehill, chosen ahead of the man who was picked before him in the actual draft in RGIII, and new Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson.

The move wasn’t surprising as many would think, given Tannehill’s success against his own class (2-1 against Wilson and Luck, and he’s yet to face Griffin), and the flashes of brilliance he’s shown in clutch situations such as in comeback wins against the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots this season.

“When you talk to quarterback minds, everybody wants the next Aaron Rodgers. Well, that quarterback down in Miami, Ryan Tannehill, that’s my guy,” said Evans. “He’s the closest thing right now physically and in the giftedness I think between the ears he’s the closest thing we have to Aaron Rodgers.”

“I like this quarterback. I’ve been high on him since he came out, and I’m sticking with him.”
