Two things are always paramount when your talking about the defensive line for the Miami Dolphins: your numbers against the run and how may times you can either sack or pressure the opposing quarterback. The run defense in 2011 was stellar, holding opponents to 95.6 yards per game, which ranked third in the NFL. The Dolphins were also third in the league holding teams to 3.71 yards per carry!

After practice this afternoon, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano met with the media to continue to discuss the upcoming game against the Ravens. He revealed that much like last week at Cincinnati, he expects to see some no-huddle and hurry-up offense out of the Ravens, as he did the last time these teams met.

Meanwhile, Sparano said that starting strong safety Yeremiah Bell was once again limited in practice today with a toe injury, though if you read between the lines, it certainly sounds like the coach expects YB to play on Sunday.

Well, it may be a day off for a lot of folks out there, but the Dolphins were back at work today, practicing in preparation for Sunday’s Week 1 opener against the Bills. Today the Miami Dolphins announced that they have terminated the contract of two players, waived 18 others, and acquired versatile offensive lineman Pat McQuistan from the Cowboys for an undisclosed draft pick.

Some names you’ll know, others you won’t. Some guys will make the team, others will not.
