Reggie Bush is the #1 running back on the first depth chart of 2011.

Coach Tony Sparano released his first depth chart of the 2011 season today and while a LOT will change between now and the regular season opener on September 12th, it’s always fun to see where guys stack up heading into pre-season game number one. Here are my notes and observations:

  • QB: Chad Henne is the starter, with Matt Moore #2.

Besides the quarterback position, the one spot on the offensive side of the football that has plenty to digest is tight end. I say that because through the first week of training camp, the tight ends have been shifting, motioning and running ragged across multiple formations for offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

This new offense has terrific skill players and should be able to put pressure on opposing defenses.

On this last day of 2010 (wow), the Dolphins held their last practice of the season as they get set for Sunday’s season finale at New England. After practice, coach Tony Sparano met with the media and was asked a couple of questions about the unique dynamic that exists with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Sparano said he basically never sees the two of them apart when they’re in the  facility and spoke glowingly about their relationship, noting that they could probably both be #1 backs in other places but they have put ego aside for the betterment of each other and the team.

Tony Sparano had a very insightful visit with the media after practice today to talk a bit about Sunday’s finale at New England and a good amount about off-season plans. When talking about off-season evaluation of what went right and what went wrong, Sparano said he would take “a good part of a month” to break everything down, from players to schemes, and everything else.

Week 16: Lions 34, Dolphins 27

It is certainly difficult to give gameballs out after a loss, but it’s a little tradition around here and so even though the Fins saw their home record fall to 1-7 today, we still want to do our best to give a little tip of the hat to a couple of individual players who had nice afternoons.
