A CowPhin is a Dolphins player who once played for the Cowboys

This week, the Dolphins signed OT Marc Colombo, LB Kevin Burnett, and QB Matt Moore, among others. Those three players have something in common other than their current places on the Dolphins’ roster, though: they’re all CowPhins.

What is a CowPhin, you ask? Well, quite simply, a CowPhin is a player who was once on the Cowboys and is now on the Dolphins.

On this day before Thanksgiving, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano spent a few minutes with the media as the team continued their preparation for Sunday’s game at Oakland. Beginning with injury news, Sparano said that QB Chad Henne was limited in practice today, but participated a good amount. Same goes for center Joe Berger. On the other hand, receiver Brandon Marshall was absent with the hamstring and Sparano said that “he’s doing well” but that the whole thing is going slower than anyone wants it to.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano today announced that he is giving his players an extra day off tomorrow and that the team will be off until Monday, giving everyone a three-day weekend to enjoy. So, for the final time this week, the team practiced, and afterwards the coach had a rather lengthy chat with the media. Among topics covered, the coach talked about the eventual returns of rookies Jared Odrick and John Jerry.

The Dolphins practiced this afternoon for the first time since Friday night’s 16-6 loss to the Falcons and after practice, coach Tony Sparano met with the media. While most of the reaction to that game has been negative, the coach emphasized that there were some positives to take away. He didn’t single out any players, but said that he did like the way that the interior of the defensive line played and that they were able to move some people around.
