It all starts at 11:00 am on Friday with the beginning of training camp in Davie. This is the time and date players, coaches and fans have been waiting for throughout this long and frustrating off-season. There are plenty of positions to pay special attention to this training camp, but one of the most competitive spots to earn a spot on the roster just might be at wide receiver.

It looks like the beginning of training camp could be right around the corner. It’s time for all NFL players to put the 2010 season in the past and look forward to a fresh start in 2011. This off-season has been unusual to say the least, and most Dolphins players have been getting together for player-organized team workouts over the past two months.

Last month, Miami Dolphins Head Coach Tony Sparano and General Manager Jeff Ireland participated in a conference call for Season Ticket Members that lasted over 30 minutes as the duo addressed numerous questions from fans. Yet, it wasn’t until the last question of the night, from a Season Ticket Member named Eric, that Sparano was asked the question that has been on the mind of fans all off-season.

Special teams is about so much more than kicking and punting.

Everyone always talks about the Dolphins’ offense and if quarterback Chad Henne will have a breakout season, or if Karlos Dansby and Cameron Wake can lead the defense in 2011. It’s very seldom that the conversation would turn to the special teams unit and whether or not they can carry their weight next season.

Free Agency Questions for Jesse Agler…

Chris Boyle (Facebook): Once the lockout ends will the Dolphins go after a quarterback?

Jesse Agler: Absolutely. They pretty much have to just from a roster standpoint. Right now, Chad Henne is under contract. That’s it. There’s a chance (depending on what the new CBA says) that Tyler Thigpen will be back after he was tendered, but I would guess that the new rules will make him a free agent when they new league year starts.

A central priority for the Dolphins brass this off-season was to add speed to the offense in order to create more dynamic plays in 2011. With the Dolphins first two selections in the draft, they addressed other needs: at center and at running back with the selections of Mike Pouncey and Daniel Thomas. Then in round four, the Dolphins were able to get speed and plenty of it, with Edmond Gates, one of the fastest players in draft.

Offensive questions for Troy Drayton and Keith Sims…

Paul Adamaszek (Facebook): Keith, what do you expect out of [new offensive coordinator] Brian Daboll?

Keith Sims: I’m not entirely sure what to expect—none of us are, but here’s what I want: I want creativity. That doesn’t mean we have to be launching the ball down the field every other play, but I want him to take advantage of mis-matches.

Michael Fabiano is the master of all-things fantasy football and the fantasy football editor for both and the NFL Network. We called him up last night so as to get an idea of how the rookie class of 2011 projects fantasy-wise, particularly some of the guys drafted by the Dolphins.

The fantasy guru called into the show to give us his opinion on the value of Dolphins rookies Daniel Thomas, Edmond Gates, and Charles Clay. Don’t miss which rookie wide receiver Fabiano thinks could be a steal in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.
