The Miami Dolphins opened the 2011 season with a 38-24 loss to the New England Patriots on Monday night in a game that featured the most combined passing yards in NFL history (906). Seriously. Tom Brady and the New England offense gashed the Dolphin defense all night long, as he finished with 517 yards on 32-of-48 passing, with four touchdowns and an interception.

Preseason Week 3

The Dolphins look to run their preseason record to 3-0 tonight when they travel across the state to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.

The Fins are coming off of a 20-10 win over Carolina, while the now 1-1 Bucs were dropped 31-14 by the Patriots. Last week for Miami, the offense put up 301 total yards in the first half and the defense held the Panthers without a point until the fourth quarter.

Dolphins 28, Falcons 23

The Dolphins opened up the preseason with a 28-23 win over the Falcons and, like most preseason games, the story was much more about individual efforts and not the final score–though it’s always nice to pick up a win.

On offense, Chad Henne threw two interceptions, the first of which popped out of Anthony Fasano’s hands, but also tossed a 44-yard touchdown to Brian Hartline.

Free Agency Questions for Jesse Agler…

Chris Boyle (Facebook): Once the lockout ends will the Dolphins go after a quarterback?

Jesse Agler: Absolutely. They pretty much have to just from a roster standpoint. Right now, Chad Henne is under contract. That’s it. There’s a chance (depending on what the new CBA says) that Tyler Thigpen will be back after he was tendered, but I would guess that the new rules will make him a free agent when they new league year starts.
