I love Bob’s story about being 22 years old, naive and fresh out of Evansville and in New York for the first time. I remember going to visit my husband in New York and he forgot to pick me up in Union Station and I was left there for over an hour thinking he had abandoned me, of course he has done that before in various locations around the globe, Germany being one of the locations. I had no idea how to go through customs and wanted to get back on the plane and return home.

I still think Bob should be coaching as he knows the team strategies for winning better than anybody else. I have read a lot about how he used to prepare for road games. I read that he used to stay in the hotel at night and just study, study study the defense’s and offense’s of the opposing teams to get a winning strategy together to win. I look at him and think, he’s only 66 and is fully able to coach. I think he should pull his son Brian in to coach side by side with dad seeing that Brian has had more experience than Sparno’s son.

Bob, take care and I will be looking forward to hearing you on Monday night’s game against the Jets.

    Always your fan,
    Mary Karanikas Ivins

I don,t think Bob Griese had the strongest arm of any quarterback, but I think he was the smartest quarterback ever. If you blitzed him you got burnt. and I never saw a quarterback that could use the snap count to draw you off like Bob. The closest thing may be Payton Manning. Our 17 and 0 Dolphins was the smartest group of football players ever assembled.
