Cornerback Jimmy Wilson expressed his thoughts on the team’s defense and the need to start a game with urgency following the Monday night loss to the Buccaneers.
“We need to come out fast, that’s basically what it is,” Wilson said in an interview with the Finsiders. “We’ve been having slow starts, we’ve always got to scratch and claw at the end of the game. We’ve got a good team coming in here, a great offensive team coming in here and we’ve got to make sure that we give the offense great field position and don’t keep them backed up like we did last week. And we just have to play a tough game at home and make sure that we come out on top so that we can get back in this thing.”
On Monday night, Miami fell behind Tampa Bay by a 15-0 deficit. The Dolphins were able to rally in the game to take a 19-15 lead before allowing a late touchdown to drop to 4-5 on the season.
“We’re mad at ourselves for dropping a game like that, that we had in our hands. We started out bad, whatever, but we played good enough to win the game and we just didn’t make the plays in the end to win it.”
And in order to do so, it would greatly benefit Miami to come out and hand the San Diego Chargers a loss on Sunday, who also stand at 4-5 on the year after losing last weekend to the Denver Broncos.
“We’ve got to push on. We’ve got a bunch of good guys in there and we need to find a way to get these wins and start stringing them together.”
