Wallace Ready For Dolphins Debut In Cleveland
By on September 3, 2013 at 4:39 pm

Wallace practiceThis Sunday will have been a long time coming for Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace.

Wallace, who was signed as a free agent this past offseason, is eager to finally get the ball rolling with his new ball club.

“I’m excited,” Wallace said after practice on Tuesday. “First start for me, I’m just excited to go out with my teammates and play.”

Fans are excited to see Wallace in action as well, having dreamed of Ryan Tannehill connecting with his new deep target since Miami acquired the wide receiver back in March.

“It’s time to go,” Wallace added. “It’s live bullets. Production really comes now, so we’re going to have to put up some big numbers, make some big plays and contribute to the team as best as we can.”

Having spent the past four seasons as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wallace is all too familiar with Miami’s date for the season opener, the Cleveland Browns.

“I know they’re going to come and play no matter what the score is,” Wallace said when asked about Cleveland. “Their defensive front is going to be coming like crazy.

“You just know you’re in for a dogfight.”

And Miami is hoping Wallace can help them in that dogfight by carrying over his past success against Cleveland when he puts on his new Dolphins uniform this Sunday. With the Steelers, Wallace totaled 16 receptions for 333 yards and two touchdowns in seven games.

When asked if he likes playing in Cleveland in front of the ‘Dog Pound’, however, Wallace flashed a grin and gave a swift answer.

“I’ve had some good success,” he said. “I don’t know if I really like playing there, though. It’s cool.

“They don’t like me. They don’t like me at all.”
