According to the NFL, Dolphins safety Michael Thomas has won AFC Defensive Player Of The Week honors for Week 15.
Thomas, just signed by the team off of the 49ers’ practice squad last Tuesday, was pressed into duty following injuries to several Dolphins defensive backs late in Sunday’s win over the Patriots.
With the Dolphins protecting a four point lead, Thomas came up with a huge pass break-up in the endzone, and four plays later made the game-sealing interception.
Thomas becomes the third Dolphin to win AFC Defensive Player Of the Week honors this year, joining Cameron Wake (Week 9) and Olivier Vernon (Week 13).
