Heil, Cimino To Represent Dolphins At Draft
By on April 25, 2013 at 12:26 pm

Heil_CiminoWhen the Draft is in full swing tonight, before the camera pans over to the commissioner at the podium, you’ll likely see several tables, each occupied by representatives from NFL teams. It’s the area with all of the team helmets and placards where the phones always seem to be ringing off the hook.

So, who exactly are these people — and what do they do?

Well, they are responsible for submitting a team’s selection to the NFL once a decision is made back at the team’s draft room. They act almost as foreign correspondents, too, keeping a team’s personnel department and coaching staff back at the home base (in the Dolphins’ case, the Doctors Hospital Training Facility in Davie) privy to what’s going on down on the floor at Radio City Music Hall. If there’s a trade that’s about to go down, they’ve probably heard about it first.

This year, the Dolphins will be represented by accounting manager Craig Heil (his 12th straight year on the draft floor) and equipment manager Joe Cimino (11th year), two longtime team employees.
