McDuffie, who will make his first appearance next Thursday, spent his entire eight-year career with the Dolphins, retiring in 2000 because of a nagging toe injury.
The Dolphins’ 1993 first-round pick–23rd overall–finished his career with 415 receptions for 5,074 yards and 29 touchdowns. Throughout his career, McDuffie was a steady performer, with his production increasing in each of his first six seasons, culminating in 1998, when he caught a league-leading 90 passes.
In retirement, McDuffie has become a staple in South Florida sports radio, spending several years breaking down the Dolphins and the NFL.
A chance to return to work with the Dolphins, though, was too enticing for him to pass up.
“I am definitely very excited,” McDuffie said. “I’m a huge Dolfan. I’m a big-time homer. I’m looking forward to being around you guys, the Dolphins family and Dolphins nation a lot more often.
The Finsiders airs on Dolphins.com, 940 WINZ and 1230 WBZT on Monday-Friday at 5-7 pm. McDuffie makes his first appearance on Thursday, June 21.
