Marino Thinks Taking Tannehill Could Be Worth It
By on April 24, 2012 at 11:27 am

If the Dolphins decide to take Ryan Tannehill with the eighth pick in Thursday’s draft, it will only be the third time in franchise history they’ve selected a quarterback in the first round.

According to’s Gregg Rosenthal, the Dolphins’┬álast first-round quarterback, Dan Marino, thinks that the team should seriously consider taking Tannehill if they have a positive conviction about him.

“If they feel good about Tannehill and he’s there at eight, it’s worth taking a little bit of a stretch to take a quarterback,” Marino told Rosenthal. “If it’s a guy that you think can be your future quarterback for a long time, then you got to take him. If not, you have to preach to the fans that you have to be patient.”

Passing on Tannehill, even with reason, may make it extremely difficult to maintain patience. But Marino sees winning as a cure to some recent dissatisfaction.

“They are still the franchise everybody is looking at,” Marino said. “It’s the Miami Dolphins, man. It’s a great brand, a great franchise. It’s been very successful for many years in the league. No matter what is, though, fans want to win. That’s what it’s all about.”

This Doesn’t necessarily mean that the GREATEST OF ALL TIME thinks Tannehill is the right pick, they should change the headline. I’m sure Danny boy knows in his heart drafting Tannehill in the first round is a complete waste…..

First, the headline never implies that Marino thinks that Tannehill is the right pick, just that he “COULD BE”. Second, I trust Marino as being far more capable of knowing what’s in his heart and expressing it than you are. If you want to disagree with him, it’s a free country. But trying to project your opinions on to him is a bit odd. I’m not trying to defend Tannehill, as I’m not completely sold on him myself. However, if the ‘Phins do draft him, I am willing to see how (and if) he develops before trying to judge the FO’s ability to evaluate draft picks.

For the love of god don’t draft him as our number 8 pick. We should take the “best” player available at number 8. We should take the most talent at number 8. We may need a QB if Moore doesn’t pan out but the best two options at quarter back will be drafted at #1 and #2. So we will have to wait or pick up Tannehill in a later round if he is still out there don’t rush to get a quarter back that isn’t TOP talent!!

does anyone need to be reminded dan was drafted behind 5 other qb’s and i think he turned out ok the best of all time i think as a pure qb

Ok, so we are here sitting 3 and 3… Tannehill has shown his mettle… And you haters, where are you now.

I’m hoping, rooting for the Jets
