Logo Change “Likely” Coming
By on October 30, 2012 at 8:41 pm

The Dolphins’s logo has only had one “major” overhaul in the team’s existence, prior to the 1997 season.

One of the most discussed off-the-field aspects of the Dolphins this year has been the possibility of a logo/uniform change for 2013.

Earlier today team CEO Mike Dee joined us on the show and continued to hint that there’s a very good chance of an adjustment coming. “I think there’s likely going to be some changes. How significant those are, we’ll have to wait and see.”

Dee had previously hinted that any adjustments would be more subtle than drastic, going so far as to tell fans that a Marlins-like overhaul would not be the direction the Dolphins would go, if they were to make a change.

Dee also said that the deadline for submitting changes for next season is “looming” and that “I think fans will be very excited with what they see down the road here shortly.”

Aside from logo talk, Dee also discussed South Florida’s bid for Super Bowl L in 2016 and the possibility of stadium upgrades that could go along with that:

“We’re working on, as much as we can, to figure out getting the stadium in the best possible condition. We’re going to put the best stadium we know in the bid, whatever that means. We’re not sure what that means right now, but whatever we can do to make the stadium as attractive as possible, we’re going to do it.”

As for on-the-field matters, Dee gave high praise to first-year head coach Joe Philbin. “It started the first day Joe walked in the building. The mood of the building was different and a lot of changes followed after that…it starts with culture, and Joe has a philosophy that just took over immediately. It’s great to see.”

“More subtle than drastic.” Please stick with this. No reason to completely overhaul the dolphins image.

I wish the Dolphins weren’t a house divided. (football operations and the entertainment side of the franchise.)

The position that Mike Dee holds for the Dolphins is IMO unnecessary. It might be best described as a “make-work” type of position or job. This very topic where he is trying to decide whether to change the team logo and if so, what to, is ridiculous. Meanwhile the price of taking a family of 4 to see a Fins game is so expensive it is just piteous. How much does Mike Dee make and what is the cost of what it took to determine whether it would be worth while to change the logo? How many people does Dee have working under him? What a joke! Wake up Ross!

If they change the logo then that is seriously the most rediculous thing ever! Even more so if it is that stupid looking 4 color striped dolphins that looks like a cuise ship logo. Who is that suppose to intimidate? There is no personality to it. No face, No mouth, eyes or ATTITUDE! The logo is perfection as it is now! I don’t care about how the “mood” has changed, the logo shouldn’t!

Logo Change???? Come On!!!!! Let’s destroy more Miami Dolphins tradition.. It’s bad enough they still play that God Awful Jimmy Buffet song after scores… Anybody who thinks a logo change would be a good idea, take a look at Seattle’s uniforms… Oh another thing why don’t we ever wear our throwback uniforms??? True Dolfans would notice and IMO Approve…
    Highly Against This……

earlier in the year Ross stated we were getting back to tradition,a winning team..and now he wants to change the logo?.If its subtle color changes I could understand, but the shape, size and overall design is excellent, leave that part measely suggestion is to add a tinge of red to the sun, since miami is a southern hotspot!!!..hardcore fin fan from chicago..

  7. Neondesert says:

No No…as you see in these post. We love the logo now!! As others have said, and I agree…keep the tradition. Remember, we are fans. We buy what we like. NO NO NO new logo.

  8. StanC says:

    Really Bad Idea!!!

  9. naflod13 says:

no to a logo change hate marlins new logo dont try to fix something that does not need fixing were the dolphins not the pats or jets

  10. drmike says:

Leave the Dolphins logo & uniforms ALONE! Stop trying to change things that don’t need changing! The fans, especially those of us long-time fans do NOT like logos or uniforms changed. Quit trying to mess with Miami’s traditions. You need to focus on more important things. I have a house full of Dolphins memorabilia & will not buy anything else if you mess up our logo! Lifelong Dolphins fan from TN.

ok! the fans here who do not think we need to change the logo are completely missing the point. we already changed the logo in 97! just change it back! we used to be much better before 97! right?! retro design is part of what made the NFL great in the 70’s.
and the Dolphins were a big part of that. it’s subtle. just look at the old dolphin stensil. it totally symbolizes the tradition of this fabled organization. lets dig deep and move forward my fellow Dolphins.
