You’ve made it to the come-to place for all your injury news and updates so you can win your fantasy league in week 5. Check back before the games start throughout the day as I will update the page with any news you need to know.
Julio Jones (hand) turned in a full practice week and is listed as probable for Week 5. He is finally over the hand cut that led to him catching a one ball for 30 yards last week, and I expect big numbers from him here.
Scott Chandler (head) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice, and looks like he avoided a concussion. He is going to be a rollercoaster for stats all season long, and the 49ers defense is tough, so don’t expect another 2 TD day from him this week.
Panthers MLB Jon Beason (knee) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. He toughed it out last week, but he made Michael Turner look good again (171 total yards) in the process, and I am sure the Panthers would rather him rest up than give up yards again.
Matt Forte (ankle) practiced in full Friday and will play against the Jaguars. The Jaguars are ranked #30 against the run, so Forte should have a field-day with them this weekend.
Bengals CB Nate Clements (calf) is questionable, but CB Leon Hall expects to play against the Dolphins today. They are a big part of the Bengals defense, and Brian Hartline could have another great game with the secondary being dinged up.
Trent Richardson missed Browns practice Friday, but it was just to be with his girlfriend, who is having a baby. He is a full go this weekend and should be played accordingly.
Greg Jennings has been ruled out for week 5, and needs to be taken out of all line-ups. James Jones will start in his place, and both Randall Cobb and Jones are solid WR3 plays against the Colts pass defense.
Ben Tate is dealing with a troublesome toe, but is expected to play Monday night. He is still just a back-up to Arian Foster, so he shouldn’t be played except in 16-team or deeper leagues.
Coby Fleener (head) was a full participant in Friday’s practice, and is going to play this weekend. He is not an option for fantasy leagues right now.
Laurent Robinson (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 5 versus the Bears. Justin Blackmon will see even more targets than usual, but that isn’t necessarily a good thing with a struggling Jaguars passing attack.
Peyton Hillis (ankle) will not play against the Ravens. Hillis should be cut in all but the deepest of leagues as his fantasy value just isn’t there this year.
Reggie Bush and Ryan Tannehill are both listed as probable this week and will be on the field against the Bengals.
Christian Ponder got dinged up with a knee injury in week 4, but is fully expected to take the field in week 5. He is a mid-range QB2 this week with teams needing a bye-week filler.
Rob Gronkowski is listed as probable this week, and Aaron Hernandez is a full blown game-time decision. I personally think Hernandez misses this week’s game and wouldn’t chance it by playing him.
Lance Moore has been ruled out for week 5, and that means Devery Henderson will see extra snaps. That being said, I think Darren Sproles and Jimmy Graham are better bets to light up fantasy scoreboards than Henderson. That being said, he could get that one deep ball for a TD that makes his day.
Stephen Hill and Dustin Keller are listed as doubtful for Monday night, but the Jets offense is so horrible right now that I would avoid anyone in a green and white jersey!
Rashard Mendenhall is going to be on the field for week 5, but I see the Steelers easing him into the offense rather than giving him a full workload to start with. He is a flex play at best this week.
Chargers K Nate Kaeding (groin) has been ruled out for Week 5. I personally cut him this week as there is no kicker in the NFL worth holding on to while injured for fantasy purposes.
Danny Amendola has been diagnosed with a sternoclavicular joint separation, and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. I would IR him if you can, and cut him (if there is something on your waiver wire having) if you can’t.
Jake Locker was ruled out for week 5, and Matt Hasselbeck will get the start in his place. There are real concerns with Hasselbeck’s arm strength, so play the Titans WRs at your own risk. Kenny Britt is almost a lock to not play this week also, so it just gets worse. Because of this, I expect the Vikings to stack 8-men in the box and just stuff Chris Johnson all day long. I would sit him personally, but the big-box sites have him as a RB2.
Pierre Garcon is going to play this week, and I have him listed as a WR2 because the Falcons are likely to give up a big play that leads to a possible TD.
