Bess Excited To Spread It Out
By on April 23, 2012 at 1:02 pm

When Davone Bess took a hit directly to the knee in last season’s finale against the Jets, it initially seemed like he had sustained a serious injury.

Fortunately, though,  he didn’t suffer any structural damage and only needed a few weeks to rehab back to full strength. It may have even been a  blessing in disguise, allowing him to spend more time around the facility and giving him a chance to get to know the new coaching staff.

Bess recently joined Jesse Agler to talk about his first impressions of the new coaches and his expectations for the new offense.

“If you look back and look what Green Bay did, obviously they did a tremendous job of spreading the ball out,” Bess said. “We have the personnel to be explosive, to be exciting.”

The installation of the West Coast offense should definitely give Bess, who had a career-low 51 receptions last season, a chance to have a major jump in production. While he’s excited about the opportunities that the new offense could deliver, Bess said that he senses the new coaching staff’s impact will go beyond just strategy.

“I’ve been watching (film), licking my chops,” Bess said. “I’m excited not only by what we’re doing on offense, but just as a team. The way the coaches are bringing everybody together, I believe we are making the right moves to be contenders.”

Since he was hired, Joe Philbin has stressed it’s important that he be a good teacher. After spending some time with both he and Mike Sherman, Bess thinks the teacher label won’t have a hard time catching on.

“Very intelligent guys, they know the game, ” Bess said. “I think that’s one of the biggest advantages we have, and we’re going to benefit just knowing the game a lot more, studying and being better listeners.”

With a lot of uncertainty heading into the season, in part because of a new coaching staff and new systems, there may not be a lot of external expectations for the team.

“We’ve got to believe,” Bess said. “There’s a lot of doubters out there, but as long as the 53 men come opening day believe, I think we’ll be in good shape.”

Draft Trent Richardson!!! He will help spread the field along with Bush and Thomas. The No Name Defence and Zonk, Kiick and Morris were perfect with 2nd sting QB!!! Can history repeat itself?? Not perfect but a damn good running game will open the field for Matt Moore.

So overlooked in all the westcoast offence talk, is how well the new scheme Miami has…. will be able to run! be a great running team! Nobody under the sun is talking about it? And, It is there! I like that. OMG! who is the QB? Who will replace Marshall? Philbin ia all about passing? We have a better running team that we have had for ten years, while searching for the next Marino. We were taught to love Brown/Williams….Its all we HAD!? Without Miami how did they do in 2011? Not so great. Sparano built teams around them and game planned to throw to mainly on WR. Thats over! THANK GOD! We are going to go on the road and beat the texans week one. After that, you guys down in south Florida better buy some tickets! The new Miami dolphins will have fans worldwide, and your just going to look silly with your baseball basketball tickets when Joe Philbin wins coach of the year and you have shit seats week 17 when the pats go home and we go to the playoffs.
