The Dolphins (1-7) will look for their second consecutive win this weekend when they host the Washington Redskins (3-5) at Sun Life Stadium. The Fins are coming of their first win of 2011, a 31-3 drubbing of the Chiefs last week in Kansas City, while the Skins try and stop a four-game losing streak, following a 19-11 home loss to San Francisco.
The meeting between the teams is the first since Week 1 of 2007 and will be just the 13th time the two teams have gone head-to-head (including a pair of Super Bowls). The Fins have won seven of the 12 all-time meetings, including the last meeting in South Florida (2003). The last time the teams got together, Washington picked up an overtime win but the Skins have never won a game in Miami, going 0-4 all-time against the Dolphins at both the Orange Bowl and Sun Life Stadium.
For more Redskins perspective on this Week 10 match-up, you can go Behind Enemy Lines to hear from coach Mike Shanahan, QB John Beck, legend Billy Kilmer, and beat reporter John Keim. This week we also spoke with rookie WR Leonard Hankerson, from the University of Miami, who is just starting to find his role in the Washington offense.
On the Dolphins side, the start of the second half of the season represents a fresh start: 0-7 is behind them and the team appears to be clicking in ways they were unable to do so earlier in the season. In this week’s edition of the LIST, we asked our analysts which Dolphins player they thought would have the best second half of 2011.
As for this specific game, the Dolphins are going in about as healthy as a team can be at this point in the season, with just three players listed on the injury report. For a full breakdown of the medical situation for both teams, just click here. John Congemi, meanwhile, gives you what he thinks are the three main keys to victory for the Dolphins in this game against the Redskins.
Finally, here’s a video preview of the game, where I discuss what the Redskins will be trying to throw at the Dolphins. You’ll also see a breakdown from LB Karlos Dansby and WR Brian Hartline:
