The 4-8 Dolphins look to make it four in a row at Sun Life Stadium and try to win for the fifth time in their last six games as they welcome the Philadelphia Eagles (also 4-8) to Sun Life Stadium for the first time since 2003.
The Dolphins lead the all-time series against Philly 7-5, but the Birds have taken the last two (2007 in Philadelphia and 2003 in Miami). The Dolphins last win against the Eagles was a 16-13 victory in October of 1999.
Despite the fact that the teams have met just 12 times, one of those games was one of the most historic days in Dolphins (and NFL) history. On November 14, 1993, Don Shula’s Dolphins defeated the Eagles 19-14 as the legendary coach picked up his 325th all-time win, the most ever by an NFL coach.
As for the here and now, there have been a lot of theories as to why the supposed “Dream Team” is close to being mathematically eliminated from post-season contention with a full month left in the regular season. To hear more on the Eagles’ perspective, you can go Behind Enemy Lines to hear from coach Andy Reid, QB Mike Vick, RB Ronnie Brown, and Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
While Philly has been struggling, they are still an exceptionally dangerous team. While the big names like Vick and RB LeSean McCoy have been receiving the bulk of the attention, there are other players to watch out for. Alex Alvarez takes you inside the Dolphins’ locker room to see what the Dolphins players are saying about this game.
Now that we have a pretty good idea about what the Eagles are capable of, the question becomes: What do the Dolphins need to do to come away with a victory? For the answer to that question (and more), check out John Congemi’s Keys as our QB lets you know what he thinks the Fins need to do to pick up another win.
As with almost any NFL game, injuries will be at least a decent part of the storyline. And while Philadelphia isn’t nearly as beat-up as Oakland was last week, there are still a decent number of names on the official injury report. Luckily for Miami, their list is once again short.
