On this day-after the Dolphins season-ending loss to the Patriots and for the final time this season, coach Tony Sparano met with the media late this morning.

When asked about the message he gave to the team in their final meeting today, Sparano said he told the guys that they are not where they need to be and that everyone should take responsibility for that and think about what they need to do to move forward and fix things.

The coach also made a point of saying that he thinks he has the greatest job in the world and that he never takes it for granted.

UPDATE: Here is video of the coach discussing the post-season evaluation process as well as how he views the Dolphins’ QB situation moving forward:

I’m glad Coach Sparano didn’t get fired. I hope he gets a nice extension now. I think Mr. Ross owes him at least that much for all the shenanigans the last few days.
