@bernmcbern: What would it take for the team to sign Plaxico Burress? It would make my dreams come true. Any chance of this?
Jesse Agler: It’s a fun question to ask and I’m definitely one of the people that think Burress will definitely be able to contribute this season for whatever team signs him. That said, with the limitations of the salary cap, it just doesn’t seem like it would be money well spent. The Fins have enough other holes they need to fill before they start adding at a position that they’re pretty well set at.
@alltime_josh: What style of offensive playcalling will the Dolphins be using this year?
Jesse Agler: I’ll let Tony Sparano answer this one for you, Josh. Here’s what he recently told us: “If the offense is anything like the offensive coordinator [Brian Daboll], then it’s got to be more aggressive.…He’s not afraid to cut it loose a little bit. I think the offense will be much more exciting and what I would also say is that it will be a lot less predictable.” That’s pretty much what we all want to hear, right?
@adrianadm: Everybody wants Ricky Williams back, what are the possibilities that he returns?
Jesse Agler: Probably not great, Adriana. The Dolphins will definitely bring in a running back (or two) but it seems like Ricky’s time here in South Florida has passed. He even recently said on a YouTube video that he’s preparing himself to finish his career somewhere else.
@richrodriguez47: I must know what kind of conditioning the team is doing to prepare for the season.
Jesse Agler: Well, Rich, any work the players have been doing, they’ve been doing on their own. Because of the lockout, they have not been able to come to the facility and workout with coaches or trainers or anyone else. And this raises a very valid point: there will probably be some players around the league that come into camp this year out of shape. Hopefully none of those guys are here in Davie, though.
@wbttbw: What’s the latest word on free agent running backs?
Jesse Agler: Because of the lockout, there’s not a ton of new news about running backs, but here’s a story I did recently on some of the big name guys that are available. Check it out and let me know who you think you’d prefer the Dolphins to sign. To me, though, there are basically two schools of thought: you either go after a big-time, game-changing guy like DeAngelo Williams or Ahmad Bradshaw (which won’t be cheap and could limit your spending elsewhere) OR you bring in a couple of less expensive guys and hope that they’re able to complement rookie second round pick Daniel Thomas.
@tonybalogna: If I wear my Bryan Cox jersey to training camp, do I get a high five?
Jesse Agler: From who? From me? Sure! Come on over and we can chat. But I’m guessing you meant from Bryan Cox. While the coaches are extremely busy during training camp, it’s definitely your best chance to get up-close and personal access to the team, so you never know! Hope to see you out there and hope that it is SOON!
