Johnson Steps In
By on September 1, 2010 at 7:00 am

One man’s misfortune has turned into another’s golden opportunity. On August 2nd, Dolphins 4th round draft pick A.J. Edds went down with a season-ending knee injury during practice inside the “Bubble” at training camp. The following day, free agent linebacker Micah Johnson was on the field fighting for an NFL roster spot.

Micah originally signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent after the draft, but was waived by New York back in June. He has another shot at trying to reach the next level after doing well collegiately.

Micah was named Kentucky’s Mr. Football back in 2005 after playing both linebacker and running back in high school. He actually scored 46 touchdowns in just two seasons at Fort Campbell High School. Rated the nations top inside linebacker by ESPN, he was selected as a high school All-American, and was considered a four –star recruit by Rivals.

I spoke to Micah following practice about his short time here trying to learn the team’s defense, how he’s approaching Thursday night’s final preseason game, and the adjustment he’s trying to make at the pro level.
