Dolphins 29, Titans 17

The Miami Dolphins won in front of their home fans for the first time this season today, defeating the Tennessee Titans 29-17.

It was a game of transition for the Fins, as they saw new starting quarterback Chad Pennington last just two plays before injuring his shoulder, and then old starting quarterback Chad Henne get knocked out of the game late in the third quarter.

Tyler Thigpen, the team’s third QB, came in to start the 4th and lead a nine-play, 85 yard drive that finished with a nine-yard TD pass to Anthony Fasano that sealed the win.

Thigpen finished the day 4-of-6 for 64 yards and that touchdown and also watched a bit of a Wildcat resurgance, as the Fins ran out of that formation as successfully as they have all season (8 plays, 49 yards, unofficially).

On the other side, Tennessee saw their new starting QB, Kerry Collins, get knocked out of the game, and old starter Vince Young played the second half.

It was also a game that featured the “conservative” Dolphins faking a punt, running a flea-flicker, and a deep pass from WR Brandon Marshall.

Not much time to enjoy this one, as the Fins will have to figure out who’s available for Thursday night’s home game against the Bears. Be sure to tune into the Finsiders radio show tomorrow from 4-7 to see Keith Sims, Sam Madison, and I talk to Don Shula, Ronnie Brown, Tony Sparano, and others.
