Dolphins 10, Jets 6

We’ve become used to saying this: it was ugly, but it got the job done.

The Dolphins made their first trip to New Meadowlands Stadium a memorable one as they defeated the Jets 10-6 and improved their road record this season to 6-1.

Miami scored all 10 of their points in the first quarter and then turned to their defense to keep Mark Sanchez and the Jets down. QB Chad Henne, coming off one of the worst performance of his career last week against the Browns, completed just five of 18 passes for 55 yards. Henne did not, however, throw any interceptions, and tossed a six-yard TD pass to Brandon Marshall that extended the Fins’ early lead to 10-0.

On the other side, Sanchez was just 17-of-44 for 216 yards, no touchdowns, an interception, and four fumbles (one lost). The Jets never got their running game going, either, as LaDanian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene combined to carry the ball 27 times for just 66 yards.

The real hero of the game, though, might have been punter Brandon Fields, who was booming kicks all afternoon to turn bad Dolphins field position into not-great Jets field position. Fields punted 10 times including a 69-yarder and the coverage team was big each and every time, making sure his efforts were maximized.

At 7-6, the Dolphins continued their win-loss pattern and will look to make it two in a row in a crucial home game against the Bills. Be sure to tune into the Finsiders tomorrow afternoon from 4-7 as we talk to key Dolphins players, as well as the head coach, Tony Sparano, at 6 o’clock.

What has happened; we are bass-ackwards. We had a fairly good offense but special teams were not good. Now our special teams are fairly good and the offense has gone south. Game ball?? I think they should all go to Yeremiah; when two or three tackles have been missed, a couple of arm tackles missed, an attempt at shoulder tackling missed then Yeremiah will get the job done. We have alot of new defensive guys, some really bright future for our defense but the mainstay is Yeremiah.
