Chad Pennington to have Fourth Shoulder Surgery
By on December 8, 2010 at 3:47 pm

Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington, already lost for the season, announced today that we would undergo a fourth shoulder surgery this Friday with Dr. James Andrews.

Pennington said that he has not given up on whether or not he will return to playing, and puts it at about 50/50 on whether or not he will attempt a comeback. He also said that once he makes his decision, he will stick with it, and vowed not to waffle back and forth.

When asked about what the non-playing future may hold, Pennington said he had given a lot of thought to a lot of things, including going back to school for a Master’s degree, broadcasting, coaching, working on his foundation, and everything in between. He added that any decision he makes will be a family decision and noted the sacrifice that his wife and three kids have made over the course of his 11-year career.

Pennington also went into further detail about what happened to his shoulder in the game against Tennessee. He said on the first play, he banged his elbow on Jake Long and that the shoulder popped out. He said he popped it right back in but on the next play it came out again and he realized he needed to go to the sideline (he also mentioned that Ronnie Brown wouldn’t help him put it back in. Can’t blame him, either.)

Pennington says he does not doubt his ability to come from from this and that the decision will be based solely on whether he will be an asset or a liability to a team.

I think Pennington makes a perfect back-up Quarterback, but the question remains: Who can be a great starting Quarterback for Miami?

      Certainly not the current one!
Let me think Brady – no, already spoken for, Breeze? – same again; Rothlisberger? – already with the Steelers…… I hate to say it, but even Mark Sanchez would be better than we’ve got (sorry, need to go now and wash my mouth out with soap and water!).
Still, what do I know, I’m only a Limey from here in the UK, what do I know about the greatest game in the world.
Truth is, I’ve thought since a long time ago the ‘Fins won’t get to a Superbowl with Sparano in charge and Henne at the helm. Big rethink is needed at the head coaching position (and possibly others). Ever since Tony Sparano took over, we seem to be taking a step forward then 2 steps back each year.
